Victoria Williams, soprano, is a vocal musician well-versed in multiple genres, specializing in classical voice. As a native of Richmond, VA, Victoria got her start in music early, participating in select performing groups and making her amateur solo debut with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra at the age of 14. After beginning her formal vocal studies at Virginia Commonwealth University with the late L. Wayne Batty, Victoria learned a more in-depth form of musical interpretation, which has inspired her and stayed with her to this day. While in Richmond, Victoria was also a vocal student of Dr. Lisa Edwards Burrs, Dr. Patrick Carlin, and Melanie Kohn Day. Victoria has taken part in both national and international competitions her entire singing career, most notably with an amateur win of Best Soloist at International Music Fest Bahamas (2003), as well as being a finalist at the Classical Singer Magazine Competition in 2011. Since moving to DC in 2011, Victoria has been regularly sought as a guest soloist and psalmist at many different Catholic, Episcopalian/Anglican, Methodist, and Baptist churches in the area. She is also an active member of the Aria Club of Greater Washington. Victoria’s performance credits include: “Once On This Island” (“Asaka”), “Die Fledermaus” (“Rosalinda”), “The Mikado” (“Katisha”), “La Traviata” (Chorus); various scenes from opera and musical theater; TEDxRVA (2016). Solo and cover roles include: soprano and alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah, soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem. Victoria is currently based out of Washington, DC, pursuing a Bachelors’ degree at the University of the District of Columbia in Voice Performance, with a minor in Speech-Language Pathology.
